RYUGU Poster

Reference CN020

Ryugu is the Japanese name for an asteroid that may hold the secrets of the birth of the Solar System and the appearance of life. It is the target of the Japanese probe Hayabusa-2, which carries a Franco-German lander (CNES/DLR). On 3 October 2018, Mascot landed on the surface of Ryugu after a four-year journey. Its in situ observations of the asteroid's floor are helping to unlock the mysteries of this black diamond. Illustration by Thomas Hayman.
