The Guiana Space Centre, located in Kourou, French Guiana, is Europe’s spaceport.
Since the 1970s, it has been the launch site for Europe’s rockets — including the iconic Ariane series. The latest, Ariane 6, lifted off for the first time in July 2024.
In the heart of the jungle, CNES has implemented an ambitious environmental policy to limit the impact of space activities on local biodiversity.
